BEING FEMINIST

 BEING  FEMINIST

After reading the title what was the first thing which clicked on your mind ? ..... Umm.....Neha Dhupia ....
Am I right ?
Well , you don't have to become another Neha Dhupia to call yourself a 'feminist'. But , if I ask you what do you mean by being feminist ? The most popular answer would be "female chauvinist ".
And if I tell you that my friend you are perhaps wrong you would definitely demand for the reason .
'The reason for being feminist '. "okay.... challenge accepted "

 SO ,WHAT IS FEMINISM ?

The people with feminist beliefs are often mocked by the masses on the name of "female chauvinists" .
But ,the concept of feminism doesn't incorporate female chauvinism . It is the  'misandrist' belief of people who  have ingrained prejudice against men . Then comes 'misogyny', it is the belief of a set of people which had and have been prevalent in some parts of our country, their concept is 'men are superior to women' in other words 'male chauvinists' .But , feminism declines both of these concepts and strives for the 'equality of both of the sexes ' in terms of social , economic and political sphere .

IS FEMINISM A RESULT OF WESTERNISATION ?

The concept of feminism is yet to be accepted by Indian society and  by Indians . Our society rejected this reform in the name of "westernisation " . Though feminist movements are influenced by the west , it has originated in our own country . When ? .....  The feminist movement in India initiated from the mid-19th century when reformists strove for the reforms in the spheres of education and customs involving women .It was persevering when Mahatma Gandhi incorporated various women's movements in The Quit India Movement in the Pre -Independence era . The Post-Independence period was extremely crucial in'India's feminist movement' because it brought up vital issues in front of masses like gender discrimination ,fair treatment of women at laws house as well as in the work force and right of participation in politic and academic sphere .

WHY DO WE NEED TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN INDIA ?

The above graph shows the highlights from the report of NATIONAL CRIME REPORT BUREAU 2018

If you study the graph 5 states have been clearly declared unsafe for women which includes Uttar Pradesh ,Maharashtra ,West Bengal and Assam . So ladies , if you are living in these states only you can help yourself .A bitter truth .

Females have always been considered 'inferior' to men and were deprived from various rights like education ,employment participation in political sphere etc. But today as we are heading towards prosperity with 65% of women being literate in our country , 50 % of seat reservation for women in political spheres we are heading towards change and development and 'feminist' belief can help us to eradicate social evils like domestic violence , female infanticide ,rapes , acid attacks which are still lingering in our society by giving equality of opportunities for development to both men and women

So, feminism is not only for the 'liberation of women' but for the 'liberation of the humanity' from the clutches of social injustices .

Now , that you know what feminism exactly is I ask you , Are you a feminist ?
