PLAY TIME V/S SCREEN TIME

 How much time does your child spend on screen ? How much screen time is considerable for a child ? Is your child getting doomed on the internet ? How to prevent your child from becoming a ‘digital zombie’ ?

 Firstly, let us accept that digital has become an inevitable part of our life .From adolescents to adult people are doomed on the internet nowadays . Excessive use of anything be it digital or not can be disastrous . So, do you know how much time your child is spending on screen ? Do you know which content your child is consuming ? Parents must know the answers to the questions because of the disastrous content available on the internet . And ,if you don’t keep an eye on your child’s ‘watch list’ your child can be on the verge of becoming a ‘Digital Zombie’. 

So, how much time on screen is permissible ? 

Children under 12 months should not have any screen time . This is because children under this age are extremely young and they shouldn’t get influenced by screens rather they should be handled with utmost care and love and they should be made to play more physically for the better development of their mind and body. Children older than 24 months can have screen time for 1 hour a day at the most. Again , that should be done under parent’s guidance. It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure their tiny tots are not watching any destructive or exploiting games and videos in this stage .Children at this stage should also be made to play more physically with friends and family members . They should also be inculcated to work in unity .Children older than 6 years the screen time must be limited according to one’s needs but , it should not be more than 2 hours a day . 

The great teacher Chanakaya told it beautifully : “ Children must be loved the most until the initial five years of their lives by their parents . The next ten years inculcate all the healthy habits in them and for the rest of the life be like a friend with them”

 HOW TO INCULCATE HEALTHY PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES IN YOUR CHILD ?

 As digital is playing a huge role in this pandemic , it has also allowed us to rejuvenate our bonds with our family as well as the whole humanity . So why not we look at this ‘quarantine’ as ‘family time’. Healthy habits inculcated at an early stage can help lifetime . So let’s start with eradicating ‘screen time’ from your child’s life with ‘play time’. Yes ,we can make them understand the importance of harmonious relationships with family and friends by promoting them to play,talk,dance,sing,meditate and pray with you . This would create a positive impact on their mind and heart. Physical development plays a vital role in one’s life, it helps them build self esteem and confidence. Another advice would be to prepare a time slot in harmony with children’s physical and digital life . Above all family’s love and support can help the little warriors to come back from any type of setback
