How has technology transformed our life?

Today, we can contact anyone across the globe within seconds, however, in the primitive stage of technological evolution, people didn't have any digital means of communication. Imagine, you get some mystical power and you can go to that era when there wasn't any digital life, no digital connections, no technological advancement would you 'A 21st century's person' be able to survive in a world with no digital presence?

Digital not only comforted human's life but also started to control human's emotions. let's look at some pros and cons of digital and then decide, is digital really worthy? And, why is it the supreme power?  Are you ready to face the truth?

How is digital changing the world?

Digital brought a revolution in sectors of communication, transportation, education, e-commerce etcetera. Let me give you an example of how digital is changing our world as well as our lives! In the early 1900s when there wasn't any e-commerce website for people to buy the products or services of their niche, traditional means were playing at the front foot. In the 1900s if you were to buy a pair of shoes for yourself you would have to visit physically a shoe shop and choose from a handful of variety present in the shop and end up, purchasing your favourite shoes. But, in the 21st century, if you get an impulse of buying a pair of shoes, what would be your first action? Searching on Google about the best shoes? Reading review articles about best shoes for your fit? or comparing prices of the product on e-commerce sites? This way digital allowed us to choose the best fit for us from a vast variety of options and also, changed the consumer's journey towards purchasing a product or service. Digital not only gave a vast variety of options to the consumer but also, aid to generate employment in every sector of demand and supply. Surely, digital is transforming the world with its mystical features!

This was one of the examples from the tons of boons of digital. And if we look at the present situation, what is allowing us to work and study from home? The answer is obvious, digital! 

It was Charles Darwin who presented 'The Theory of Natural Selection' and quoted" It is neither the fittest, the richest nor the savviest that survives, it is adaptable that survives". Humans have to be constantly adaptable because if not, they won't be able to survive! Now, let us see how digital is transforming our world as well as our lives slowly but steadily!

• Small Businesses: Digital and technological advancement created a way for small businesses to grow. By synergizing with digital, small businesses can not only communicate to their target audience but also understand consumer's needs and can cater them accordingly. Let me ask you a question, suppose in the midst of the road your motorbike stops working and you don't know anything about the bike repair shop of that area, what would you do? Stress or cry for help? "Thankfully, you are living in the 21st century!" you can just open Google on your mobile phone and search for a term 'bike repairing shop near me' and you would be provided with the location, name and contact number of the bike repair shop in your vicinity, and then what? Go and get your bike repaired! Thus, there is a need for small businesses to be present digitally to cater their target audience.
• Educational sector: We don't really have two travel 5 kilometres to reach schools and colleges like our parents, do we? Nowadays, with the development of the virtual classroom, you can learn anytime, anywhere from across the globe! Sitting in your verandah you can learn from American teachers or from teachers around the world. So, whom should we be thankful for? Of course technology! This technology comforted our lives by allowing us to access its mystical features. So, the next time you attend a virtual class, appreciate the efforts, the mechanism behind creating this wonderful technology which you are accessing fruitfully. 
• You still want more? Fine! Marketing, communication, transportation, agricultural etcetera sectors have synergized with technology and have started building their digital presence and thereby embracing prosperity in their field. So, if you have a business, get it on digital and shine!

The internet of things(IoT), artificial intelligence(AI), virtual reality, automated technology and robotics is the result of the fourth industrial revolution which has transformed various sectors of society. Let's deep dive into the ocean of technology, to understand what we can achieve through technological and digital advancement. Get set, go!

• It was April 3,1983, when the first handheld phone was invented by a Motorola executive Martin Cooper. Coming back to the present day after 37 years, more than a quarter-century, mobile phones have become an inevitable part of our life. Today, having a mobile phone in your hand is no big deal, it has become so common that in the urbanised cities even 10 years old child has one. But, mobiles depicted richness of the individual 37 years before! Technology is advancing at a rapid speed, so again, Darwin's word "it is adaptable that survives". Learn to adapt!
• The evolution of robots and automatic machines have begun and it could take a huge momentum in the future. Robots can replace man force in industries and provide twice the labour compared to humans. Thus, there could be a scarcity of human employment in the future, but industries and people in the developmental sector must understand that robots are the creation of humans so, the most intellectual mind would always be of humans.
• Space missions today, are carried to explore space and for the purpose of research but, with the advancement in technology and by coordinating with shrewd scientist we can look forward to humans creating society on Mars! Yes, that's the power of technology!
• Digital versus Traditional marketing: For a company to prosper in their field and reach potential customer it is obligatory to have an online presence. According to a report, there are 2.05 billion online buyers across the world as of 2020 and the number is expected to reach 2.14 billion next year. Thus, you can understand that there is a huge demand for products and services across the globe and e-commerce can create a way for businesses to reach their potential audience across the globe. As digital marketing is more audience-friendly and can be done by targeting a specific group of people with a similar niche. Whereas traditional means of marketing is more expensive and proves to be less effective than digital marketing as there is no means for audience segmentation, retargeting which is offered in digital means of marketing.
• Digital employment. Still, there is a lot of misconception about online employment in the minds of people. When businesses and industries would develop their online presence it would pave way for more and more employment opportunities in digital. So, there is nothing wrong in being a web developer, content creator, content marketer, digital marketer etcetera. These career opportunities would allow in creating an independent future for artists and people who don't fit in the standardized fields of Doctor, Engineer or Lawyer.

The biggest problem about digital and how can you fix it?

Hey, are you on social media? Answers in the comment section. If you are on social media then you might have come across derogatory messages, online trolling, rumours and inflammatory statements. The biggest problem with digital is uncivilised social media users. Yes, that's it!

"People try to present a fake version to prove themselves cool, ah such fools!" Why can't we be honest and optimistic while using social media platforms? And if you like to spread negativity, go and get yourself admitted in some mental asylum. Harsh words, right? But, again that's the truth. Be online not to contribute to negativity but, to spread love and peace. Communicate with fellow humans and be honest, as honest words are more appealing than sugar-coated cheap words of flattering. And, that's all. Love, Love and Love!

What not to do in the digital sphere?

• Piracy. It is the illicit mean of snatching personal information or exploiting online consumers. And the best way to stay away from this, is not to share personal information with social users and always communicate with a legit person about work or work-related problems and don't pay to anyone promising you to give job, it proves that the person is a fraud as why would you have to pay for getting a job? Stay away from these kinds of frauds!
• Sharing too much personal information can lead to digital exploitation. Thus, it is recommended not to share excessive personal information with any social user.
• Sharing of bank details can lead to financial exploitation so, don't share any banking details on social media or to some social user.
• Be alert and don't contribute to spreading rumours. Spread peace, not rumours!

Is digital the supreme power of this era?

The answer is a big 'YES!' As you've previously read how digital is proving to be a boon in various sectors of society, digital is the supreme power of the 21st century. We are living in the informational and technological era, which is the best of all time humans ever lived. Why? Because today we have access to mobile phones for communicating across the globe, we can book airline ticket sitting at our home, we can learn virtually anytime anywhere, we can access the internet and learn new things, we can buy products/services online, and the list is endless!  Our duty as a member of this great civilization is to use technology for our's and everyone's progress.

We are living in the best and the worst of the era, humans ever lived. Best because technology in coordination with digital has eased our lives with its mystic features, worst because digital is slowly but steadily controlling human's actions and emotions. Life does not depend upon a like or a dislike, so stop giving excessive worth to them. Every coin has two sides so as digital, so you choose your future by doing your present action. Heed on what you are doing now because your future will depend upon it! And at last, humans created technology, don't ever let it master you!
